Project management support is required for the delivery of multiple technical Research & Technology projects focused on accelerating decarbonisation in aviation. The role takes place in a collaborative research and technology environment involving engineers, project leaders and external partners, and includes work with a mix of internal teams and a broad range of external stakeholders.
The assignment starts in September 2026 (October 2026 is possible) and runs for 1 year, with a possible option for a permanent position afterwards. It is based in the Netherlands (Leiden area) and includes up to 10% travel. The workload is 32–40 hours per week (40 preferred).
As a Project Manager, responsibilities include keeping technical R&T projects on track with respect to planning, budget, deliverables and quality. The role involves translating technical developments into clear actions, reports and project deliverables, and supporting structured execution together with Project Leaders. Many of the projects are publicly funded, including contracts, budgets and formal deliverables, so the role includes monitoring and fulfilling contractual and financial obligations and coordinating reporting requirements related to public funding.
The position includes operational reporting to a Head of the organization and close collaboration with team leads, engineers, other project managers and supporting departments such as Finance and Legal. The Project Manager maintains project documentation such as progress reports, risk registers and KPIs, facilitates workshops and project meetings using relevant methodologies where appropriate, and supports proposal activities for research projects funded at national and EU level.
Eisen
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management or a related field
- Approximately 2–5 years of relevant project management experience
- Experience with stakeholder management in a complex environment
- Demonstrable experience managing budgets and contracts
- Sufficient technical understanding to work effectively with engineers and understand technical project deliverables
- Excellent command of English
Wensen
- Experience with publicly funded research projects, research consortia or public-private partnerships is a strong advantage
- Experience with SAP is a plus
- Knowledge of Lean methodologies and/or a project management certification such as PMP, IPMA or Scrum is a plus
- Experience within aerospace, high-tech innovation, energy transition or a similar technical environment is highly desirable
